“Highly Recommended” is the epitome of an understatement when it comes to the firm of McDonald At Law!! Michael McDonald’s genuine pleasant, and empathetic demeanor masks his legal astuteness, and the level of aggressiveness he implements in pursuit of a victim’s right and the monetary compensation legally entitled to us. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the hands of an intoxicated driver in York County. In my case I suffered what I described as an atypical injury, Mr. McDonald offered to be my Lawyer immediately after explaining to him the events leading to and after being struck in turn causing me to have a heart attack, when another law firm seemed hesitant. McDonald At Law secured a sizable monetary compensation that not only met my expectation but exceeded it. Mr. McDonald’s wealth of experience, and legal prowess is priceless and never did he act as the case was beneath his practice. In the end my family and I were well compensated, but also felt justified. Thank you McDonald At Law!!

Back in 2014 I was injured didn’t know what to do but my wife suggested I call Mike McDonald at law I’m not going to say that I really believe in luck but I will say it was the greatest blessing of my entire life that I had the opportunity to pick the best lawyer in Pennsylvania and maybe all of America in Mike McDonald. I needed surgery and Mike came to my home just to make sure that I was OK personally, and he told me not to worry about anything but to just get well he really cares about people and that is something you can’t pay for. Mike’s firm was the most professional operation I have ever had the opportunity to witness over the last 3 1/2 years . All I can say is this if you’ve been injured and you need help there’s only one person that you should call and that’s McDonald at law. From my experience is that when I arrived at his office the first time I met a lawyer and when I left his office the last time I felt like I had a friend. For superior service and expert litigation, remember there’s only one number to call if you ever get hurt it’s McDonald at law.

Chester County Workers’ Compensation Lawyers
A job injury can create two immediate worries: getting the right medical care and keeping income coming in while you recover. Pennsylvania workers’ compensation generally covers work-related injuries without requiring the employee to prove ordinary employer negligence, but disputes still arise over notice, medical causation, disability, wages, treatment, and whether the injury was connected to work.
Work Injuries Across Chester County
Chester County workers are employed in hospitals and care facilities, construction, manufacturing, distribution, agriculture, education, municipal services, restaurants, offices, and retail. Claims may follow a lifting injury, fall, machinery incident, vehicle crash, repetitive-use condition, or occupational exposure.
The job title alone does not explain a claim. Medical providers and the carrier may need to understand the worker’s actual physical duties, including lifting, standing, driving, reaching, repetitive motion, or exposure conditions.
Report the Injury Promptly
Section 311 of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act makes early notice important. If the employer does not already know about the injury, notice within 21 days is important for benefits to relate back to the injury date. Notice given more than 120 days after the injury can prevent compensation, subject to statutory exceptions.
Report the injury as soon as possible and keep a record of when, how, and to whom it was reported. Describe the injury in plain language and explain how it relates to work rather than guessing about a diagnosis before medical evaluation.
Medical Proof and Claim Status
Medical records should consistently describe the work event or exposure, symptoms, diagnosis, restrictions, and whether the employee can return to regular duty. If the employer has a valid designated-provider panel that satisfies Pennsylvania’s notice and posting requirements, the worker may need to treat with a listed provider for the first 90 days from the first visit.
Read every compensation document carefully. A medical bill being paid does not necessarily mean the carrier accepted the entire claim, disability period, or injury description.
Benefits and Other Claims
Available benefits can include reasonable and necessary medical treatment, wage-loss benefits, and specific-loss benefits in qualifying cases. Section 315 generally provides three years from the injury date to file a claim petition, although occupational disease, prior payments, and other facts can affect the calculation.
If someone other than the employer or a coworker caused the injury, such as a negligent driver, equipment manufacturer, property owner, or outside contractor, a separate third-party claim may also exist. Any third-party recovery must be coordinated with workers’ compensation lien rights.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Waiting to report the injury because symptoms initially seem manageable.
- Giving different descriptions of the work event to the employer, carrier, and medical providers.
- Assuming payment of one medical bill means the entire claim has been accepted.
- Ignoring a denial, temporary-compensation notice, or other bureau document because treatment is still being paid.
- Settling before understanding future medical needs, wage-loss exposure, and any third-party lien issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly should I report a Chester County work injury?
Report it as soon as possible. Pennsylvania’s notice rules make 21 days important for retroactive benefits, and notice after 120 days can bar compensation unless an exception applies or the employer already knew.
How long do I have to file a Pennsylvania claim petition?
A claim petition generally must be filed within three years of the injury, although occupational disease, prior payments, and other facts can change the calculation.
Can my employer make me treat with a particular doctor?
A properly established provider panel can require treatment with one of the designated providers for the first 90 days from the first visit. The employer must satisfy Pennsylvania’s panel notice and posting requirements.
What if the carrier denies the claim?
A denial can be challenged through the Workers’ Compensation Office of Adjudication. Medical records, wage information, job-duty evidence, and testimony may all become important.
Can I receive workers’ compensation if the accident was partly my fault?
Workers’ compensation generally does not require proof that the employer was negligent, and ordinary employee carelessness does not automatically defeat a claim. Statutory defenses and exclusions can still apply.
Can I have workers’ compensation and a personal-injury claim at the same time?
Possibly. If a third party caused the work injury, a separate negligence or product claim may exist, but the workers’ compensation carrier may have lien rights against that recovery.
